Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of records do you buy?

I can find a home for any records, be it Rock, Reggae… and all those wonderful genres in-between, such as Pop, Metal, Soul, R&B, Folk, Blues. If you hum it, I’ll likely buy it.

So if you have records like this for sale, drop me a line.

Do you buy small ones as well as big ones?

Yes. I buy 7” singles as well as LPs.

I also buy 78s and 10” singles.

Do you know there are also 8” singles out there? Not that many were made though.

Oh… picture discs, colours discs, slipped discs, discus … etc etc

Do you buy old ones as well as new ones?

As Paul McCartney once said… “Do you want to know a secret?”

I prefer old albums to new ones.

Now, don’t go telling people that - I have a reputation to maintain of being this hip young cool dude, but yes, I love buying records released in the 1960s and 1970s.

Beautiful beautiful things.

Don’t get me wrong… I’ll buy your records released in the 1980s, 1990s and noughties also, but don’t worry if you think your records are old and no one will be interested. For I am!

How do you grade records?

See… call me a fool but I love that records are fallible.

You can tell a lot from a person from the condition of their records.

Firstly, I play or inspect pretty much every record that comes into Brighter Day before finding it a new home. So I can hear and see the condition.

Obviously, it helps if they’re in fantastic condition, but that usually means they’ve not been played that often, which makes me a little sad.

No matter the condition of your records, poor, good, very good, excellent or mint – I’ll buy them.

Do you pay cash for my records and will you collect?

Yes and yes.

But equally, I can make a bank transfer or a friends and family payment on PayPal.

And I do collect records and don’t cherry pick… I’ll take away that burden.

Do You Wanna Know What Love Is?

No – but I’m prepared for you to show me.
